I find myself reflecting on the collective achievements and contributions of our exceptional faculty, dedicated staff, motivated students, accomplished alumni and invaluable community partners. I extend my heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering commitment that shaped our success throughout 2023. It is with great pride that I observe the significant impact we continue to make locally, statewide, regionally, nationally, and even globally. Our accomplishments resonate not only within the academic realm but also in the broader community we serve. I hope you will take the time to read about our amazing alumni, students, faculty and staff who embody what’s best about our university and college. We are happy to share stories of role models, researchers, projects, and faculty members who contribute to the profession in many and diverse ways.
Thank you for being an active and engaged member of the College of Education. Without your support and hard work, none of these stories would be possible. We know this will be another amazing year! Come visit the UAH College of Education and see what all the excitement is about. Spend a day with us. Tour campus. Sit in on a class session. Volunteer to participate in a research study. UAH College of Education Confers First Child, Family, and Community Development Degrees |
Less than a year ago, the Bachelor of Science degree in Child, Family and Community Development (CFCD) was officially launched in the UAH College of Education, and this new program just graduated its first class during the Fall 2023 Commencement. This degree program provides opportunities for students to work with children, adolescents and their families in a community setting, developing leaders in the field who focus on improving the lives of young children, adolescents and families whether that be through high-quality early care and education programs, non-profit agencies, children’s museums, recreation centers or similar specialized programming. Ciara White completed the Early Learning and Family Relations concentration, and Tamia Knight and Alexis Woods completed the Recreation and Community Leadership concentration.
Ciara White describes her time at UAH as “life changing”. “I was the person who dreaded high school everyday. Coming to UAH changed that for me. I was excited to get to my classes everyday and see what new topic we would be learning.”
