WINNIPEG, MB – Buildings are built one brick at a time.
Lives well-lived are built one day at a time.
And great legacies are built one generation at a time.
The Rady JCC is thrilled to announce its Honourees for the 51st Annual Ken Kronson Sports Dinner. This year, we honour community-forward business leader Jared Akman and pay tribute to the Akman Construction legacy.
The flagship fundraising gala takes place Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg. An anticipated crowd of over 1,200 business and community leaders are expected to attend.
Akman and his family company will be profiled alongside this year’s keynote speakers, Minnesota Vikings legends and Pro Football Hall of Famers Cris Carter and John Randle, announced earlier this month.
"It is a true honor to celebrate Jared Akman and Akman Construction at the upcoming Sports Dinner,” said Lori Gilfix, long-time Sports Dinner Committee Member. “Jared exemplifies what it means to be a mensch—his character, empathy, and ability to connect with others on a profound level set him apart.”
For over 112 years and four generations, the Akman family has shaped our community’s skyline with visionary projects, built on trust, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to integrity. Today, under Jared Akman’s leadership, Akman Construction proudly continues this legacy, making a lasting impact through Construction Management and meaningful philanthropic contributions felt throughout our community and beyond.
“Jared has taken the values and lessons learned from his father and elevated Akman Construction to new heights,” continued Gilfix. “He and his family are not only personal friends but an extension of my own family. It is a delight to see someone as impressive and deserving as Jared being recognized for his contributions and impact on our community and city.”
Tickets and sponsorships will be available later this month. If you wish to come out and help celebrate Jared Akman and pay tribute to the Akman Construction legacy, be sure to secure your seats early as this event is guaranteed to sell out.
