The physical education department at Waverly Belmont is wanting to share with our students a fun unit on camping and the outdoors. Our goal is to help them to enjoy leisure and recreational activities. A camping unit would be an excellent opportunity to allow students an experience that they might not otherwise have growing up. The camping unit will be taught in physical education classes over a two week time span and will include other aspects and standards from other curriculum areas. However, we need your help! The physical education department does not have the money to purchase items needed for this unit. We are asking our kind and generous families and community to help by donating any of the following items:
- Two medium size tents

- Camping cookware for two campsites

- Firewood for two fake campsite fires

- Walking sticks for hiking

- Old backpacks to use on a hike

- Old fishing rods that can be cast, small or toy fishing rods from Walmart.

- Any books on camping, animals, or the outdoors

- Kayak or canoe that can be borrowed

- Two or three life jackets that can be used and returned

- Any type of spelunking or cave gear such as inexpensive headlights

- Fake trees for the outdoor look

- Stuffed animals that may be found in trees or in the forest

- Marshmallow tongs to roast marshmallows over the pretend fire

- Bags of marshmallows to roast over the pretend fire

Coach Tomalo and Ms. Moore appreciate any items that you are willing to donate!
