Dr. Sharon Valente from the Office of Institutional Effectiveness presented at the UT Innovative Technologies Symposium on Wednesday, January 29, alongside Carmen Coleman, Director of Assessment and Assistant Professor in the College of Pharmacy's Department of Clinical Pharmacy & Translational Science! Their presentation, "Role of Mentoring in Fostering Academic Success" featured a Jeopardy template which showcased how technology enhances communication, keeps all stakeholders informed, and actively engages them in process of progress. Themes covered included: Communication, Information, Engagement, Wellness, and Productivity. Along with her presentation, Dr. Valente also co-authored a project with Dr. Melissa Taylor, titled "Understanding Student Beliefs About Learning Anatomy in a First-Year Medical Gross Anatomy Class: A Pilot Study". Their abstract has been accepted for a poster presentation at Anatomy Connected, on March 28 through 31, 2025 in the Oregon Convention Center, Portland, Oregon.
Nick Brauer, a senior simulation specialist on campus at CHIPS, has recently joined The Academy Archive as faculty member forSimulation Operations. Nick’s contributions to the Healthcare Simulation Operations course demonstrates a steadfast commitment to advancing the profession, providing learners with transformative resources that enhance educator and healthcare simulation technologists’ skillsets, improve learning outcomes, and address the ever-evolving needs of simulationists globally. His footprint on this project spotlights CHIPS and his expertise internationally.

Dr. Cheryl Stampley began her role as the new Associate Director of Student Counseling Services on January 6, 2025! Dr. Stampley was born, raised, and educated in Chicago, Illinois, and is a FGLI (first-generation low income) individual. She holds an RN from Michael Reese Hospital School of Nursing, a BA from Governors State University, an AM/MSW from The University of Chicago School of Social Services Administration, and a clinical Ph.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Social Work. As a tenured (retired) professor, her academic career includes teaching undergraduate and graduate students, and leadership positions at Illinois State University, Virginia State University, and Purdue University. As Associate Director she will lead Student Counseling Services and supervise counseling staff in our student counseling center. She has Student Counseling Center experience at two R1 institutions(Tennessee Tech & Purdue University).
Dr. Stampley is passionate about helping people identify their inner strengths and reach their potential to successfully get through life challenges for academic success.
