NEWS FOR SEWANEE FAMILIES

This year has brought a number of exciting Sewanee milestones, including the formal adoption of the University's first strategic plan in 12 years—Elevating Mind, Heart, and Place: the Strategic Plan for the University of the South 2024-2030. 
The strategic plan builds upon a rich liberal arts and theological education tradition that explores enduring questions of humanity infused with practical engagement that prepares our graduates for lives of integrity, service, and leadership.
The action plan for implementation includes:

• Renewing and enhancing the curriculum.
• Enhancing student formation and leadership development.
• Positioning the Domain and the University as a model of inclusive community and environmental stewardship.
• Enhancing University buildings and grounds.
• Growing the endowment and generating new sources of revenue.

Last month, we welcomed almost 1,000 families to the Mountain for Family Weekend. The schedule of events was filled with wonderful opportunities to celebrate the accomplishments of your students as well as enjoy the campus and Domain.

The Dean of Students and the Office of Environmental Stewardship & Sustainability have collaborated to organize a shuttle that will be picking up and dropping students off at the Smokehouse in Monteagle to meet the Groome Shuttle (which takes them to the airport). These special holiday shuttles will run on the listed days and times during breaks. The University pick-up location will be in front of Biehl Commons. Career Readiness + Student Success News

+ Deadline to apply for most ACE internships (internships sponsored by alumni, parents, and friends) are Feb. 15. Students can learn more about these opportunities, as well as explore jobs and other internships nationwide in Handshake.

+ Encourage your student to meet with their Career Readiness + Student Success coach before the end of the semester. They can make an appointment by going to the Student Portal or dropping by the office in Carnegie 115. Things students can discuss are time management, study skills, summer opportunities, and planning for life after Sewanee.

+ The office offers many resources for seniors to help them launch their careers; follow the official Instagram to see the many upcoming events!

Sewanee Club Events

Families are invited to attend Sewanee Club events across the country. It's a great way to get updates from campus, meet other Sewanee people in your area, and stay connected.

The annual Festival Service of Lessons and Carols at Sewanee's All Saints' Chapel is a beloved tradition. This service, now in its 64th year, is a highlight of the Advent season, drawing more than 3,000 attendees from the campus and broader community. Featuring the acclaimed University Choir, the service is one of those bucket list experiences you should do before your student graduates.

The Sewanee Parents Council is a group of parents who invest financially and relationally so that the Sewanee family can grow and flourish. Parents Council members gather on campus for two meetings per year and engage in other activities that support Sewanee students as well as our recruitment and philanthropy efforts.
