Hello Jumbos!
This week, we're introducing you to academic life and taking you on a tour of resources that are available to you as you start college and throughout your time at Tufts.
Be sure to sign up for one of next week's Welcome to Your Academic Experience webinars that aligns with your specific degree program. Information about the webinars and links to register are included below. If you can't make the live webinars, they will be recorded and posted on the Orientation web page. If you missed this week’s overview of the New Student Checklist, you can watch the recording now.

Academics: Getting Started |
There are many different fields of study in the School of Engineering and the School of Arts and Sciences, which includes the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA).
No matter what degree program you're pursuing, you may be wondering: How do I select classes? … Who is my academic advisor? … What if I need academic support?...
These are great questions!
After your Academic Welcome Webinar, Academic Essentials will open for all degree programs through your New Student Checklist. Academic Essentials will be your guide through academic orientation at Tufts. This is where you will:
|
-
meet your advising team,
- learn about degree requirements and academic policies,
- connect with faculty and academic departments, and
- start preparing to build your fall 2024 schedule!
|
|
|
Check your Tufts email for your invitation to join Canvas, an online platform connected to Academic Essentials. Canvas is where we will share a variety of information from your advising team, including a series of modules that will help prepare you for starting classes in the fall.
All students must complete Academic Essentials before participating in advising. Details about modules that you will need to complete will be promoted in Academic Essentials, so be sure to monitor your Canvas announcements regularly.
Please refer to your New Student Checklist and Academic Welcome Webinar for specific information regarding scheduling your advising appointment for Fall 2024 registration.
To learn about Requirements for Graduation, browse our Academic Advising web pages: BA/BS, SMFA (BFA & CD), or Engineering. Our Academic Advising page is another good resource to browse this summer.
We look forward to our work with you this summer and beyond during your time as an undergraduate at Tufts University.
That's all for now. We are excited about next week's webinars and delving into your individual programs with you. Until then, have a great week!

The deadline to send your final transcript for transfer students to Undergraduate Admissions is June 16. For incoming first-years students the deadline is June 27.
Send your official AP, IB, and/or A-Levels scores to Tufts by August 1.
The Academic Integrity Tutorial (AIT module)
The Academic Integrity Tutorial (AIT module) describes the expectations of honesty, integrity, and rigor that Tufts faculty have of students and provides information that is essential during your academic career.
The AIT takes approximately 45 minutes to complete, and it is required for all first-year students and transfer students. Please complete the tutorial by Monday July 1, 2024. If you haven’t completed the tutorial by that day, you will have an enrollment hold placed on your account. An enrollment hold will prevent you from changing your class schedule or registering for next semester’s classes.
Language Placement Assessments
Language Placement Assessments start on Tuesday, June 11 and should be completed by Thursday, June 20. See the New Student Checklist to determine if you should complete an online language placement assessment this summer.
