Financial Aid & Scholarship Update Sessions 


Need a financial aid refresher? Come to one of our four update sessions. We will be giving updates on processes, deadlines, best practices and upcoming scholarship application processes and deadlines.  There will also be door prizes! 

All sessions will be held in the UC Theater on the following dates: 

October 8 at 6pm
October 16 at 1pm
November 6 at 1pm
November 12 at 1pm



College Students & Food Insecurity


What is food insecurity and who does it affect? Are college students really food insecure? How does food insecurity hinder academic success? Come to this talk with Dr. Terra Smith, Professor of Health Studies, to learn about this issue and talk about potential solutions! Pizza will be provided.

Enjoy the spirit of Halloween with the International Student Association on Friday, October 25 from 7PM - 10PM in the International Center (former Panhellenic Building) at the 3rd Annual International Halloween Party. There will be various activities happening all night with a costume contest, escape room, pumpkin painting contest, karaoke, DJ and light refreshments. This event is free and open to the UofM community (students, faculty, and staff). Hispanic Heritage Month Film Festival

UofM's Spanish Club is hosting its annual Hispanic Film Festival. Five films, each from a different Spanish-speaking country, will be shown between September 25th and October 9th in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. Free entry -- all are welcome! Be advised -parental guidance is advised as films may not be appropriate for younger audiences. We hope to see you there!.

NOTICE OF HEARING: Classification of Students

The University of Memphis (UofM) will hold a hearing on a proposed new rule titled “Classifying Students In-State and Out-of-State.” At the hearing, UofM will present and receive comments on this proposed rule which is intended to comply with the statutory provisions governing admissions and classification of students, specifically T.C.A. §§ 49-7-101, 49-7-137, 49-8-102, and 49-8-104.

  The hearing will be held at the University of Memphis in the University Center located at 499 University Dr., Memphis, TN 38152, Beale Room 363 on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 10:00 am CDT.  Members of the public are invited to attend.

  Electronic copies of the rulemaking package may be accessed online at https://publications.tnsosfiles.com/rules_filings/08-20-19.pdf.  The Office of Legal Counsel, 201 Administration Building, has copies for review as well.

Food Trucks are headed to campus!

We are pleased to announce our partnership with the local Memphis Food Truckers Alliance to host food trucks beginning October 16th & 17th. Food trucks will be parked in front of the Administration Building from 11am - 2 pm. Be sure to stop by to support! 2019 Family of the Year Nominations Open!

Parent & Family Services invites students to nominate their family, parents and guardians whose lives have been an inspiration to their students and others as the 2019 Family of the Year. All families and parents who are nominated by their student will receive a congratulatory letter and a copy of the essay submission. Winners are encouraged to attend the Parent & Family Weekend Homecoming Parade on Friday, November 1 at 5:30 pm and MUST be able to participate in the Football Game on Saturday, November 2, and the Parent & Family Weekend Brunch on Sunday, November 3 at 10:00 am. Tickets will be provided for the game.

Professional Development Seminar


Beginning Fall 2019, earn your Graduate Certificate in Professional Development (PDS) by completing a five-course seminar designed to prepare you for the workforce and the world. A light lunch will be served during each class. Space is limited. Certificate-earning students will be eligible for free Graduate Student Association PDS graduation stoles
