Welcome to AFSA Thomas Yates! |
Thomas Yates began his role as a simulation technologist in CHIPS on March 31. Originally from Nashville, he moved to Memphis to peruse a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering at the University of Memphis. After graduating in 2023 Thomas began working in the industry, gaining experience as a quality control analyst for Charles River Labs. A year after starting his position the company suffered major corporate layoffs, leading Thomas to search for new opportunities. The position listing at CHIPS was a clear fit for him, as he plans on continuing his education working towards a master’s degree. He was offered the position and started his new role. As a simulation technologist, Thomas is responsible for setting up simulation events using various manikins, medical equipment, and other materials that faculty member who request events may need.
