Madison Community-wide Urban Service District Orientation

Metro Nashville Public Works, the Nashville Electric Service and Metro waste collection contractor Red River Waste Solutions will be on hand to provide information on services and answer questions.  The newly annexed areas of Madison will be receiving the additional services of street lighting, waste collection, and curbside recycling collection.


The meeting will also have Information tables:
- Election Commission Voter Registration
- Davidson Criminal Court Clerk info on expungement 
- Let's Move Nashville
- Senior Ride Nashville

About half of District 8 has moved from GSD to USD, joining the other half already receiving services. If you live anywhere District 8 you are now in the USD.  Additional areas of Madison in D7 and D9 have also been annexed.  This event is for anyone in the Madison area with questions concerning what the new services will be and when they will begin to roll out.

We had a great Transit Talk at FiftyForward Madison Station.

Thank you to all my fellow panelists, Jeff Syracuse Metro Council District 15, Brandy Lamb of FiftyForward Madison Station, Laura Knotts Jennings of Madison Area Chamber of Commerce, Kelsey Oesmann of Urban Housing Solutions, Inc., Adriane Bond Harris from Mayor Megan Barry's office, and Meredith Kelsey of #TransitForNash.  It was great to see fellow councilmembers Bill Pridemore of District 9, and Anthony Davis of District 7 in the house as well!

Development Discussion in D8  #MoveDirt

  • There are market-rate townhomes being planned on Briarville Ave. across the street from the Shell Station that did not require rezoning images of the plans will be available at Coffee with NVR
  • The stormwater requirements have been worked out for Baxter Station on Curdwood Ave.
  • Buffalo Tails Apts on Old Hickory Blvd and finalizing funding and are on schedule
  • All projects on Creative Way near Nossi College of Art (formerly Cheron) on schedule
  • Bashaw Village on West Due West is on schedule
  • Oakwood Park Improvements are on schedule
  • Madison Library renovations slightly delayed but still awesome
  • Broadmoor/Ben Allen Trail Oriented Development - Phase One under preparation
  • Bethwood Commons near Oakwood Park - Look for a start in 15-20 month
  • Hampton Inn at Skyline on Schedule
  • Music City Solar on Schedule
  • More  Commercial and Residential development coming to the Eastside of Dickerson Pike past Briley Parkway and on Ben Allen - updates soon 

Major Public Works Projects underway in D8

  • The sidewalk on Maplewood Trace on schedule and easement offers have begun.


  • A sidewalk on Dickerson Pike from Dellway Drive to Gordon Terrace is on schedule. UPDATE: Additional Dickerson Pike sidewalk to continue from Gordon Terrace to Donald Street.


  • The sidewalk on Hart Lane UPDATE: TDOT funding in place, TDOT approved construction plans. Will advertise for contact in March, award contract in April and construction to clear the sidewalk on Hart near and under Ellington Parkway will at last begin!
  • Bike lanes will be striped on Walton Lane from Gallatin Pike to Saunders Ave.

Station Blvd. Update

  • The schedule calls for preliminary plans to be completed by end of February. The preliminary plans include all the surveying, roadway layout for the new road and roundabout layout.
  • Final right-of-way plans will be completed in April.
  • Utility coordination will be done concurrently with ROW tasks and will be completed this summer.
  • Right-of-way and easement acquisition is the next task, which will be completed this summer.
  • Final construction plans are developed concurrently with ROW plans and will be completed this summer. Final plans include new signal designs, signage, stormwater infrastructure, lighting, and all the landscape designs that preliminary plans don’t include.
  • Bid documents for construction will be ready this July, with construction activities expected to run from summer 2018 to summer 2019.
