I want to thank our alumni chapters for all the work you put in to create an amazing Cal Community! It was a pleasure to attend some of your tailgates, summer welcome parties, and other chapter events during my time at CAA. We can’t do the work we do without you, so thank you for your collaboration and willingness to try new things to improve the alumni experience. I’ll see you on the other side as a board member for the UC Rally Committee Alumni Chapter.

I will be starting a new position as Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement Initiatives at Berkeley Haas on April 10th. I'm excited that I get to stay at Berkeley and continue to work with our amazing alumni. I’d love to stay connected, so please feel free to reach out at my contact information below. Go Bears!

2023 Summer Welcome Party (SWP) Planning!

It is that time of the year to start planning your chapter’s Summer Welcome Party!

Summer Welcome Parties are the one time of year where your chapter can invite incoming Cal students to an event to meet and greet Alumni, current students, and other incoming students who have sent in their SIR to Cal! This is usually one of the first contacts the students have with Alumni after sending their acceptance into Cal and we want to make sure to give them a great welcoming experience as we do every year! And as always, please feel free to collaborate with other Chapters! If your chapter has not hosted a SWP before and is interested, please feel free to reach out to us for support and attend the SWP Drop-In Hours (detailed below).

Please have ONE official board member (president preferred) from your chapter complete the 2023 Summer Welcome Party Planning Form by Monday, May 8th at 11:59 p.m. PST. This form includes our Data Management Agreement. Once both are complete we can release the list to you. The student list will only be released to the alumni that complete the form.

2023 Summer Welcome Party (SWP) Drop-In Hours

We will be hosting drop-in hours for any chapter leaders who may have questions or want to learn more about Summer Welcome Parties.

This time will be set aside so we can provide support for your event whether that be resources or ideas. If your chapter is still deciding on hosting a party or your are unsure of how to proceed with how to host a Summer Welcome Party, please feel free to attend to learn more.

April 5 at 3 p.m. PST

April 19 at 3 p.m. PST

May 3 at 3 p.m. PST

Cal For All: A Changemaker Mindset for Inclusive Innovation

April 17, 2023 | 5 – 6:30 PM PT | Virtual on Zoom

Cal for All is a quarterly speaker series aimed at creating a more inclusive alumni community. Cal for All brings Cal alumni from diverse backgrounds and Cal Alumni Association Alumni Chapter leaders together to discuss diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice (DEIBJ).

We are excited to kick off this series with our inaugural event, Cal for All: A Changemaker Mindset for Inclusive Innovation on April 17, 2023 from 5 – 6:30 p.m. PT on Zoom.

Cathy Han ’01, chair of CAA's DEIBJ Leadership Council and member of the Cal Alumni Club of New York board of directors, will lead a fireside chat with UC Berkeley's Chief Innovation and Entrepreneurship Officer, Dr. Richard Lyons ’82, followed by an interactive panel on DEIBJ innovation moderated by UC Berkeley Haas School of Business’ Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer Dr. Élida Bautista.
