If your chapter is planning to host a summer welcome party (SWP) this year, please have ONE official board member from your chapter complete the 2024 Summer Welcome Party Planning Form by Monday, May 6.

Summer Welcome Party Drop-In Hours

We will be hosting drop-in hours for any chapter leaders who may have additional questions or would like extra support with planning a Summer Welcome Party.
This time is set aside so we can provide support for your event whether that be resources or ideas. If your chapter is still deciding on hosting a party or your are unsure of how to proceed, please feel free to attend to learn more.

Cal for All: Building an Inclusive STEM Pipeline: From Education to Industry May 1 | 5 – 6:30 p.m. PT | Virtual Dr. Tsu-Jae King Liu, Dean of the UC Berkeley College of Engineering, joins Cathy Han ’01, Founder of CAA’s DEIBJ Alumni Leadership Council and Board Secretary of the Cal Alumni Club of New York, for a fireside chat. Colette Patt ’85, Ph.D. ’95, Assistant Dean for DEIBJ, UC Berkeley College of Computing, will moderate an engaging panel on DEIBJ leadership, featuring inspiring Cal alumni leaders from engineering, technology, and legal/IP advisory backgrounds who will share their unique insights and best practices. Lair of the Bear Special Discount for New Campers!
| |
Affectionately known as “The Lair,” CAA’s mountain getaway camp near Pinecrest, CA is a vacation where you reconnect with family, friends, and nature. You’ll easily make new friends, enjoy a wide variety of activities, and relax and recharge in our beautiful mountain setting.
Haven’t been to the Lair before? We are offering a 15% New Camper Discount for those who can join us Week 2 (June 15 – 22) or Week 10 (Aug. 10 – 16). If you are not ready to commit to a full week, we can instead prorate a partial stay for either of those weeks so you can get a feel for the Lair. We also offer multiple adults-only sessions and our College Prep Camp, designed for students who will be high school seniors this fall.

We invite you to our annual Work Weekends at camp in Pinecrest, CA. These are adults-only volunteer weekends where valued members of the Lair community get a behind-the-scenes look at the Lair, and help us get camp ready for the summer. Space is limited.

Pollan is the former John S. and James L. Knight Professor of Journalism at Berkeley Journalism and co-founder of the UC Berkeley Center for the Science of Psychedelics. He is the author of nine books, including The Omnivore’s Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals,The Botany of Desire: A Plant’s-Eye View of the World, and his latest, This is Your Mind on Plants.
Mina Kim hosts KQED’s Forum, a live daily talk show on issues that matter to California and the nation, to create an informed, healthier and stronger community.

The Office of Undergraduate Admission (OUA) is hosting several regional events in May to welcome our newly admitted students. This is a great volunteer opportunity to meet new admits and talk with them and their families about your Berkeley experience and beyond.
