Tips for Grads

If you've been checking your calendars, you'll know that we are now in the last full week of winter break. With the new semester approaching, take some time to get yourself organized. There are a number of tasks and deadlines that you can check off your list before classes begin again.
  • Don't forget to enroll! Dissertators must register for credit during the semester. You can enroll until January 22 without being charged a late fee

  • Pay your tuition and fees. Starting February 5, all students who have not paid their tuition and fees will be charged a late fee, so make sure to get those in on time.

  • Get your spring semester bus pass. Fall 2015 passes expire on January 22, but you can pick up your Spring 2016 pass at the Union South Box Office or Student Activity Center anytime between 10am and 6pm until January 29th.
Once you've gotten through these tasks, relax and enjoy the last days of vacation. Several Madison-area parks have opened their skating rinks and cross-country ski trails, and some even offer daily equipment rentals if you just want to try them out. If it's a bit too cold outside for your liking, Olbrich Botanical Gardens keeps its gorgeous Bolz Conservatory at a balmy 75 degrees all winter long.

Find out more about this semester's online courses and sign up now. The deadline to register is January 19.
Important Changes to Library Renewal Policies
Graduate students may now renew items from UW libraries online for up to two years. If you currently have any items that have been checked out for at least 24 months, you must bring them to a campus library circulation desk to be renewed in person before January 30.
Failure to renew necessary library materials may result in a block being placed against your patron record, which could prevent access to e-resources and the ability to check out additional materials. You can find more information about the UW-Madison Library System and its policies here
