USING WINTER TO PLAN FOR SUMMER

Our December panel on summer opportunities included current students who took advantage of some of the funding opportunities offered by Tufts. See this handout for Tufts’ summer funding. 
Alan Chen ‘20 worked in NYC for a clinic in Chinatown – Career Center grant
Linda Lee ‘19 did research in Singapore – Anne E. Borghesani prize
Jen Sohn ’19 worked at Spaulding Rehab Hospital in Boston – Tisch Summer Fellow
Aubrey Specht ’19 did research at the Vet School – Tufts Summer Scholar
Gabe Ukegbu ’21 did psychology research on campus – VERSE program
Paul Ly ’21 did the SHPEP program – funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (see listings sent in our last Health-E News)

LAST CHANCE - EARLY ASSURANCE PROGRAM WITH TUFTS SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

Sophomores who are considering applying to the EAP with our medical school should use this link to request the application from the med school. You can request it until January 8th. Once the request is received you will be sent a unique link to the application and must complete and submit it by February 1. We advise you to plan on submitting before the spring semester begins.

SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES

The Michigan Health Sciences Summer Institute (MHSSI) is aligned with the AAMC Core Competencies and prepares underrepresented and underserved high school students, undergraduate students and college graduates to become leaders in the health sciences. There are two opportunities available:
Undergraduate Research Academy; Program dates: May 26 - August 3. 10-week research fellowship program. The academy provides a research or clinical fellowship experience with a faculty mentor in alignment with students' research and career interests.  
Career Development Academy; Program Dates: May 26 - July 20. 8-week preparatory residential program for students applying to medical school. 
Applications for both are open now until Feb. 1, 2019. Stipend, meal plan and housing provided.
