Chante' Caines, '18
Chante' Caines was nominated for Duval County's Teacher of the Year for her hard work and dedication in her classroom. Chante' Caines shares how her experience at UNF prepared her to become the teacher she is today. She loves being able to help children navigate life's challenges and shape their lives to help them grow as individuals who will contribute to society.
"My experiences at UNF prepared me tremendously!" Miss. Caines said, "My professors ensured I had “real-life” learning opportunities inside and outside the classroom. I completed the Jacksonville Teacher Residency Program (JTR) in partnership with Americorps, which gave me the opportunity to spend a year of residency in a Title I classroom. I still think about the learning experiences from my residency and how it prepared me to be a consistent, loving and knowledgeable teacher."
During her time has a student, Miss. Caines spent a lot of time on the 3rd floor of the library. She participated in the Student Florida Education Association and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi. She is an active member of the Alumni Association and encourages alumni to stay involved after graduation.
