CHARITABLE GIVING....

DID YOU KNOW?

If you are at or over the age of 70 and have an IRA, you probably know that federal law requires you to take a minimum distribution (RMD) from the account annually. What you may not know, however, is you can make charitable gifts directly from your IRA as qualified charitable distributions (QCDs). Because a QCD reduces income and is not an itemized deduction, this benefits even investors who do not itemize. To be tax free, the donation must go directly from the account to the recipient charity without passing through the investor’s hands. Your bank, brokerage or fund company that administers your IRA can easily facilitate a QCD on your behalf to the charity(ies) of your choosing. They can also provide more information on this topic. We appreciate you considering the Warm Hearth Foundation in your end-of-year giving. To learn more about our expanded menu of funds for 2019 including employee growth and development and strategic growth and campus revitalization, and for general information on how to make an IRA gift, please call Karen Nelson at 540-443-3406.
CARILION CLINIC CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Clinic Construction is going VERY well this month! All of the rough-ins are finished and exterior conduit for lights, data, and fiber optics are buried in the ground.  Concrete workers are forming the curb and gutter and the last section of the sanitary line is being installed. The power company has installed its transformer and has run the power to the building. The sub base for the parking lot is being placed and drywall is in progress. Final inspections should happen the second or third week of December.
