Join us at Tiger Blue Goes Green 2024 on October 1st in the Student Plaza from 10am-2pm, an exhibition fair at the University of Memphis celebrating our efforts toward sustainability. This event brings together a network of community businesses and non-profits, alongside some of our very own U of M programs and departments. All have at least one thing in common, their focus on sustainability. Our theme for this year is “Grounded in Sustainability: Exploring and restoring our connection with nature. Tiger Blue Goes Green will host over thirty local exhibitors ready to take you on an eco-journey to discover the many ways we can co-exist with nature in an urban landscape. Learn how access to nature is vital to our health and well-being. Understand your impact on the rich microscopic world beneath your feet. Modernity has had a negative impact on the health of our planet and us, broadening the distance between humans and nature. We can do better! Some exhibitors will have products for sell, so come ready to practice sustainable consumerism and support local businesses! Our 6-week B.E.S.T.I.E. program will teach you the principles of Intuitive Eating. Intuitive Eating is a self-care, evidence-based program grounded in 10 fundamental principles for authentic health. With over 200 research studies to date, this approach will teach you how to maintain a healthy relationship with your food, mind and body. The 6-week program consists of six sessions. The University of Memphis Pep Band brings the spirit and energy to every Memphis Tigers men’s and women’s basketball game. Performing at both the FedExForum and the Elma Roane Fieldhouse, the Pep Band energizes the crowd and supports our teams with high-energy performances. Members also enjoy exclusive opportunities to travel with the team for select road games and NCAA Tournament appearances—taking their music on the road and representing Memphis on the national stage! The Pep Band is open to non-music majors, and offers scholarships. | Call for Presenters
UofM Undergraduates who have conducted original research, scholarly, or creative projects under the guidance of a faculty mentor are invited to submit an application to the Works In Progress Symposium(WIPS) hosted by the Honors College. WIPS provides undergraduates with an opportunity to share their research with peers as well as professors. This symposium welcomes presentations by students who are just beginning projects, and affords students the opportunity to present the background, rationale, plans and preliminary results from a project that is ongoing, rather than complete. Application abstracts are due October 14th. Cash prizes will be awarded to the best presenter each category!

About the Workforce Recruitment Program The Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP), coordinated by the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Defense, is a recruitment and referral program that connects federal and select private-sector employers with highly motivated college students, graduate students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to demonstrate their abilities in the workplace through internships or permanent jobs.

Who Can Apply? Students and recent graduates can apply to WRP if they:
· Have a disability and are eligible under the Schedule A hiring authority
· Are a U.S. citizen or national (residents of American Samoa and Swains Island)
· Are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program on a substantially full-time basis OR have graduated with a degree on or after April 1, 2022.

| CFIA - Cybersecurity Lab Happenings
The Departments of Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering is staying informed about cybersecurity because it is crucial in the world today. The University of Memphis' Center for Information Assurance provides great opportunities for students to seek career positions in Cybersecurity. Students can benefit from careers in cybersecurity with higher salary jobs. The CFIA Cybersecurity Lab in Dunn Hall always has exciting ongoing research projects. Some of these projects include those focused on autonomous vehicles, drones, satellites, water pump, and electric vehicle charging stations. Research is conducted by both graduate and undergraduate students. The Hands-on-Project meetings are held every Wednesday where the students discuss their research progress and receive feedback from the professors.

Five College of Ed Students Receive First-Gen Fellowship from Graduate School
This year, the Graduate School at the University of Memphis has selected 12 students to receive the First-Generation PhD/MFA/MArch Fellowship, a financial assistance provision to graduate students who will become the first person in their immediate families to earn a doctoral degree or a Master of Fine Arts. Five of those students are from the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology & Research (CEPR) in the College of Education (COE).
