Hello Jumbos,
Have you thought about an education abroad opportunity during your time at Tufts? We have you covered this week with a look into Tufts Global Education! In our featured video, your fellow Jumbos share their experiences of studying abroad in Chile, England, France, and Spain.
Tufts Global Education experiences are academically and personally enriching for students from all majors. Many Tufts students choose semester- or year-long programs during their junior year but may also consider sophomore or senior year or short-term options. No matter when you decide to go, planning early is essential because it's a multi-step process that starts the year before your selected education abroad program.
|
-
Tufts has been offering programs abroad for over five decades with options in Chile, China, England, France, Germany, Ghana, Hong Kong, Japan, and Spain.
- Students attending Tufts Programs Abroad remain enrolled at Tufts, receive Tufts credit for their courses, and are eligible for their full financial aid package.
-
Application deadline: Apply no later than February 1. Applicants to Tufts in Oxford must submit an academic proposal and be approved to apply by December 1 of sophomore year.
|
-
Students participating in external programs abroad are eligible to receive transfer credit toward Tufts degree requirements.
- Tufts institutional financial aid does not apply; however, students may still use any federal financial aid.
- Application deadline: Apply through Tufts no later than February 1; deadlines vary for the subsequent program-specific applications.
|
Students may wish to participate in short-term education abroad programs. Available options arranged by Tufts vary each year and enable students to take part in global experiences with a specific academic focus, complemented by enriching cultural activities. These programs are available most frequently over the summer or winter breaks.

Thanks for continuing to check your New Student Checklist regularly! Following are some of the important deadlines:
|
-
Overdue July 1: Mandatory Academic Integrity Tutorial (AIT module). It takes approximately 45 minutes and is required for all first-year and transfer students. (If you haven’t completed the tutorial by the deadline, you now have an enrollment hold placed on your account. An enrollment hold will prevent you from changing your class schedule or registering for next semester’s classes.)
- Overdue July 1: Mandatory Pre-Entrance Health Requirements (A hold is placed on your account and you will not be able to register for classes until these are completed and reviewed.)
-
July 31: Waive health Insurance (if you are covered by comparable health insurance)
-
Aug 1: Send your official AP, IB, and/or A-Levels scores to Tufts
- Aug 15: Complete the alcohol and drug survey
- Aug 19: Complete the Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO) mandatory training
-
Aug 31 (optional): Enroll in the Monthly Payment Plan for your student bill
-
Sept 3: Consider enrolling in optional Tuition Insurance: Tuition Insurance protects financial commitments if you elect to take time away from your studies through a Medical Leave. Enrollment in the Tuition Insurance Plan will be open until the first day of classes.

Invited Viewer Access
If you would like to enable your parents or family to see your academic record, pay your tuition and fees, and/or waive the university's health insurance if applicable, give them "Invited Viewer" access to your Student Information (SIS) account. Grant them access to both Bills and Balances and Insurance Waiver. For more information, please visit the Registrar’s Invited Viewer Access web page.
