As the summer gets underway, our team is eagerly anticipating your arrival and planning for your Orientation experience and beyond. Throughout the summer, we will continue to send important updates and add new information to the GW Law Orientation website as it becomes available.
In this message, you'll learn more about our office and important deadlines to help you prepare for August.
Who Are We?
The Dean of Students Office
The Dean of Students Office is your primary resource for support throughout law school. Our office can assist with academic advising, disability accommodations, class recordings, student wellness, and navigating challenges that may arise during your time at GW Law.
We also plan Orientation and other programs designed to help you feel connected, supported, and prepared to succeed from day one.
The Student Bar Association (SBA)
The Student Bar Association (SBA) is the student government of GW Law and serves as an advocate and resource for the student body. The SBA supports students in their academic and professional pursuits, advocates on behalf of students to both the Law School and University administrations, and creates opportunities for community and connection throughout the year.

Transfer Students
Wednesday, August 5 | 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Virtual)
Wednesday, August 12 | 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM (In-Person)
Our team is still finalizing the full Orientation schedule. This summer, we will launch the GW Law Orientation App, which will include the complete schedule, event information, campus resources, maps, and real-time notifications throughout Orientation.
Before You Arrive: Incoming Checklist
This website serves as your master checklist and information hub for all things Orientation and onboarding. It contains all required action items, important deadlines, and previous communications sent to incoming students. The site will be updated regularly throughout the summer, so we encourage you to bookmark it and check back often for the latest information and updates.

July 30 – Last Day to Withdraw from GW Law Without Financial Penalty

August 1 – Deadline to Waive the GW Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)
