February '22 NewS / Soul & Spirits is March 24!

Dear UKirk Nashville Alumni, Supporters, and Friends,

As spring approaches, we welcome a spirit of renewal in our lives. We are happy to report that, even in the face of the pandemic, UKirk Nashville is alive and well, and there is much good news to share!
Since the fall, we've been able to gather on campus, taking precautions for COVID safety. We’ve met for dinner and worship on Thursdays and enjoyed great conversation and lots of laughter at weekly coffee meet-ups. In December, students and board members gathered for a Christmas party, a tradition that had to be cancelled in 2020. Even though things aren’t “back to normal,” it has been encouraging for our community to meet face to face and heart to heart.
Of course, early 2022 brought new challenges. Still, with faith, we’ve continued. In January, several of our seniors attended Montreat’s annual College Conference, which centered on the theme “What’s Next?” Especially for students looking toward life after graduation, this year’s conference was a powerful experience. We were also proud to see UKirk Nashville members Scott Burns and Naomi McQuiller on the conference leadership team!

Our February retreat ended with a delicious dinner and a photo op!
In February, we resumed our regular coffees, dinners, and worship services, welcoming several new students. Another highlight was our retreat to Sewanee and South Cumberland State Park. Our time away included a long, beautiful hike along Fiery Gizzard Creek, ending at majestic Sycamore Falls. At the end of the day, asked what they would be taking from the experience, students were quick to mention the joy of being in community, a sense of peace and empowerment from the hike, and reminders of God’s presence all around us in nature.
As the school year heads toward a close, we are connecting with our supporters and church partners and looking forward to Soul & Spirits, our major fundraiser of the year. You're invited! Please plan to join us Thursday, March 24 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Percy Warner Park’s Golf Course Pavilion. This enjoyable evening will include door prizes, music, cocktails, mocktails and delicious appetizers, all outdoors to be pandemic-safe. Let us know if we can expect you at this link.
Through UKirk Nashville, students experience the love of God through worship, fellowship, and service. We are meeting students where they are and as they are—amidst the busy-ness and uncertainty of college and young adulthood, with their questions, their faith, and their doubt.
We can’t do it without you. Your support of Presbyterian campus ministry is crucial to our long-lasting stability, vitality, and growth. Thank you for making our ministry possible. To paraphrase the apostle Paul, “We thank our God every time we remember you, constantly praying with joy in every one of our prayers for all of you, because of your sharing in the gospel from the first day until now” (Phil. 1:3-5). Amen! And see you in March.
Grace and peace,
