Thriving Together in 2020–21

We are excited to be kicking off the 2020–2021 year with the theme Together!

We are stronger together when we work to ensure that every member of the Notre Dame community is treated with respect and dignity. We can achieve more together when we support, inspire, and mentor each other. And although we are still keeping our physical distance, we will come together remotely throughout the year for outstanding professional development, networking, and engagement opportunities.

Our Thrive! mission is to increase opportunities for women to be recruited, retained, and advanced as leaders at the University of Notre Dame. That means all women. We must work together to be better allies and advocates for women of color, who often face even tougher barriers to advancement in the workplace than their white female peers.

I welcome your suggestions for programming and resources around this year's theme, proposals to partner with our fellow ERGs, ideas on how to continue engaging male allies in our mission, or any other ideas you have about Thrive! more generally. So please, reach out to me or to any one of the other board members or committee chairs at any time. We would love to hear from you!

Thrive! Lunch Pairings Signup

The Thrive! Ambassadors will offer another round of Thrive! Lunch Pairings in October.

Simply complete this form to sign up and Thrive! will randomly pair you with a lunch partner from a different division.

Given the current circumstances, you and your lunch partner may choose to schedule a lunch meeting via web conference. If you choose to meet in person, you will select a meeting place, date, and time and cover your own tab. You may each invite one friend or colleague if you would like, and that person does not need to be a member of Thrive! to participate.

TutorND: Free Tutoring Service

TutorND is a new resource offering free virtual tutoring services to children of Notre Dame employees.

Serving Children in Grades 1–12
Structured programs in reading and math and/or general homework help in any subject
Mix and match options to build the program best suited to your child’s schedule and learning needs

Name: Aviva Wulfsohn

Title: Administrative Coordinator, Harper Cancer Research Institute

Notre Dame career path: I began working at Notre Dame in 2012, first as a learning technologies specialist, and now as an administrative coordinator. I enjoy working at the University because it's such a stimulating environment. When I'm on campus, I love that I can walk out of my building and hear many different languages spoken and meet people from all over the world.

What is your favorite book or podcast?: I have many favorites but the best I've read recently has to be Educated by Tara Westover. I was fascinated by how someone with such an unconventional (American) educational background approached higher education and found success.

Join the Klau Center for Civil and Human Rights as media producer, author, and speaker Austin Channing Brown explores allyship. She is the author of I’m Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness, and executive producer of The Next Question: A Web Series Imagining How Expansive Racial Justice Can Be. By using an intentional mix of humor, pop-culture, story-telling, and audience engagement, she awakens people to the current realities of systemic racism and the everyday actions which perpetuate it.
