Dear Student,
As you may already know, the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application process is changing for the 2024-2025 academic year. One of the changes for this upcoming year is the need for parents to obtain an FSA ID in order to complete their part, as a contributor, on the FAFSA.
The process to obtain an FSA ID has been updated so all parents can receive an FSA ID, even if they don’t have a social security number. However, since the updated FAFSA was released at the end of December, parent contributors that don’t have social security numbers have been unable to get access to complete their part of the FAFSA.
The Department of Education has been working on fixing this and they have now stated that this issue will be resolved in the first half of March.
If your family is in this situation, we recommend the parent contributor to try accessing the FAFSA weekly starting with the first week of March until they can get in and complete their part of the FAFSA.
As a reminder, the priority filing deadline for the FAFSA is April 2, 2024, so you will want to have your FAFSA completed by all contributors and submitted no later than April 2nd.
As there are any updates from the Department of Education regarding this issue on the FAFSA, we will update the
Financial Aid Important Updates website.
We also have schedules for various workshops we are offering on this web page.
