University and City of Jacksonville Beach officials showcased new sculptures created by UNF undergraduate students on April 14 at the Seaside Sculpture Park. The park offers a rotation of new student artwork each year with students learning how to transform their work from small models to larger public art pieces. The Sculpture Park, located at 480 1st St. South in Jacksonville Beach, is part of a partnership between the University, the City of Jacksonville Beach, the Lazzara family and Mountain Star Capital. Biology student awarded research fellowship
UNF graduate student researcher Matthew Bernanke has been awarded a two-year fellowship from Fish Florida in order to support his thesis research. Bernanke is working alongside UNF’s Dr. Jim Gelsleichter, associate Biology professor, to study young hammerhead sharks in a nearby research reserve. Coggin College launches Women in Business initiative
UNF and the Coggin College of Business are prioritizing diversity and inclusion with the launch of a new program to attract more women into the business community with advancement opportunities and recruiting efforts at Jacksonville-area high schools. The program also offers a monthly speaker series and leadership training. Learn more about the new program.

Osprey Earth Day Cleanup at Jax Beach
On Friday, April 22nd from 12:30-3:30 p.m., UNF Alumni are welcome to join a group of current UNF students to clean up Jacksonville Beach in observance of Earth Day. Alumni interested in joining can meet at the Jacksonville Pier between 12:45-1 p.m. Gloves, bags, water and snacks will be provided and participants are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing and sunscreen. Jazz Bond makes Osprey history as UNF’s first WNBA draft pick
North Florida women’s basketball player Jazz Bond is Swooping to new heights as she joins the ranks of the Dallas Wings as a third-round draft pick of the WNBA.
"Ever since I was little I've dreamed of this very moment," Bond said. "I am very blessed that all of my hard work and dedication to the game has paid off. I wouldn't be in this position without God, my family, coaches and friends who have supported me throughout my career."
Bond finished her career at UNF as the all-time leader in blocks, rebounds and free throws. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Public Health and is finishing her master’s degree in the same discipline.
