Dear Graduate School Community,
As the semester winds down and the weather warms up, I want to congratulate each of you on your accomplishments over the course of this academic year. Whether you were selected for a fellowship or internship, presented or published your research, or completed your dissertation defense, these academic achievements are important milestones moving your educational journey forward.
I wish you a successful end to the semester. For those who are completing your time at Vanderbilt, you are truly standing at the edge of possibility--so much opportunity lies ahead of you. I look forward to celebrating with you at Commencement on May 13. I hope you will stay engaged and in touch as you advance to new opportunities. For those who will be returning to campus during the summer and fall semesters, I look forward to continuing to support your scholarly journey. I am grateful for the contributions each of you have made and will continue to make to our Graduate School community.
Best,

The revised policy and guidelines, which are in the “Student Engagement” section of the university’s Student Handbook, also clarify the university’s policy on various forms of free expression such as demonstrations, dissents and protests.
