Two UT Faculty Receive Fulbright Awards
Two University of Tennessee, Knoxville faculty have received prestigious Fulbright Scholar Awards for 2022-2023. Fulbright Scholar Awards are competitive fellowship opportunities for scholars to teach, conduct research and carry out professional projects across the globe. These awards  allow U.S. scholars to engage in cutting-edge research, expand their professional networks, continue research collaborations abroad and lay the groundwork for forging future partnerships between the U.S. and their host institutions.

Sergey Gavrilets, UT's Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology
Sally Horn, professor of geography, is working with charcoal in soils in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to chart a history of fires in the area. Analyzing charcoal content in the soil provides information about the plant life in an area where and when wildfires occur, which could lead to a broader understanding of the long-term relationships between fire, climate, and human activity.

Tickle College of Engineering alum and former interim dean Lynne Parker has added another accolade to her resume, as she was named an Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) Fellow for 2022.

Students, faculty, and staff were recognized for outstanding achievements during the Chancellor’s Honors Banquet and Academic Honors Banquet. The annual event celebrates excellence at UT, and honors the achievements that represent the best of our university.

Marine Corps veteran, and UT veterinary medicine graduate, Kate Stanford is finally realizing her childhood dream of caring for animals. After graduation this month, Stanford will continue her education through an internship in UT’s small animal physical rehabilitation service.
