Hello Ward 7 Families:
I hope you are well and settling into the new routine.
Across our schools, the start of welcome events, clubs, and sport teams aim to facilitate relationship-building and sense of belonging among students. Across the city, several events and conversations aim to promote safety and well-being incuding: the SafeTO Violence Prevention Symposium which I attended this week, a community-led healing event in Parkdale this Saturday, and the Community March Against Gun Violence coming up on September 28th.
School Councils have also begun to meet and elect representatives for this school year. I encourage you to consider these roles and I look forward to working with a diverse group of parents and caregivers representing the 22 schools in our ward. Ward 7 reps attend our ward council meetings, collaborate with other reps, and faciilate communication about Board and local issues with their school communities.
In addition to my
September Newsletter, which you would have received by email or in a communication from your school administration, I have included key dates coming up this week and new announcements, for your reference below.
I will continue to provide week-at-a-glance updates, for your information.
Yours in Community,
Debbie
