Winter Wineland 2021
I have only heard back from 26 wineries about the possibility of Wine Road hosting some version of "Winter Wineland". We'd love to get more feedback. This is the note I had sent a couple of weeks ago:
Dear Wine Road wineries -
At our recent Board of Directors Meeting we discussed options for hosting some type of “in person” event for our Winter Wineland weekend, January 16-18, 2021.
We need to know if there is any interest from our members.
We are NOT asking you to sign up for anything, just give us some feedback as to your interest level and any concerns or other ideas you may have.
This is the broad brush outline -
We feel we will still be in the OUTDOOR SEATED TASTING situation, so keep that in mind. If you do not have a way to host people if its raining, this is not the event for you.
Customers pay $50 for a ticket -
No one-day or two-day - the ticket is good for three days, they can use as many days as they want.
There are no glasses, wristbands etc - customers will have to show their ticket on their phone at each winery they visit (no contact check-in)
Ticket provides them with wine tasting at the participating wineries -
They need to make their own reservations at each winery
Ticket covers their tasting fee (nothing else is required, no food, music, discounts etc)
Wineries DO NEED to offer a minimum of 3 wines for tasting
Wineries can charge for additional tastes if they so desire
Wineries can charge for food if they wish to provide that - we will be clear, ticket is wine only
We understand seating is limited, so wineries can of course reserve as many seats as they want for non-event visitors, and charge their tasting fees, we are not expecting you to set aside ALL of your seating capacity.
Wine Road would not be reimbursing for any part of the event.
Benefit of participating would be to meet new guests, sell your wine club.
AGAIN - you are not signing up here, we just need an idea of the interest level and some idea how many tickets we could sell, if every person needs to have a reservation at each winery.
- We are thinking we’d want a minimum of 20 wineries to participate
- We would shoot for selling 300 tickets.
- We know people are still concerned about “big groups” and the word “event” is an issue, so we’d call it something else…Tasting Experiences, Tasting Weekend - and not Winter Wineland, because it would not be what customers experienced in the past during that event. Maybe Winter Escape or Wineland Tastings or…not sure.
Please respond to these questions -
1. We may be interested - YES or NO.
2. If we participate, we would be able to host #_________ (number of guests) each day
(We assume each reservation would be for one hour)
3.Our concerns are… (let us know what you’re thinking)
