Tips for Grads: Use university-provided resources to simplify your life
|
Managing Projects and People
|
If you have yet to explore the services provided by UW–Madison’s Information Technology, now is the time to do so! You may find you have access to services that can simplify your life as you navigate graduate school.
Find time to meet. Is there anything more difficult than trying to coordinate the schedules of multiple working adults? Use your wisc.edu email to log on to Doodle, for an ad-free way to poll your colleagues or classmates to see when they are available to meet. You can also export your meetings from Doodle to your Outlook calendar.
Interact with your classmates. Most people are familiar with Google, but did you know that UW employees and students have access to the Google Workspace? There are many ways to interact with others via chat and video, as well as store your shared work all in one place – with unlimited storage!
Find answers. Do you have a UW or technology-related question but don’t know where to ask? Consider starting with KnowledgeBase. To get familiar with the expansive site, you might first want to check out the top documents of the week and most recently updated documents.

Wellness Tips: Start unplugging for the holidays
|
With the holiday season now in full swing, it is important to begin your plan to unplug from work while you take some well-deserved time off. You can get started by scheduling your automatic out of office replies on Outlook and mapping out how and when you will complete your projects by the end of the year. The sooner you start planning for your time off, the more likely you are to not work on holiday!
