Finch's Hardcore Chimera
What's New
We're celebrating all things Chicago this time around! Check out some new summer and fall picks that you can find in our beer section:
  • Finch's Beer Company's new seasonal, Hardcore Chimera, is an imperial IPA brewed with 5 different types of hops.  We also carry a rotating selection of Finch's core beers all year long.

  • A California favorite, Lagunitas Brewing Company, recently opened a new, huge brewery in Chicago, bringing their beers closer to us.  If you haven't given them a try yet, we recommend their current summer seasonal, Little Sumpin' Extra.

  • Returning soon: we had fun with the unique offerings and styles from Off Color Brewing.  In particular, we really enjoyed Troublesome, their Gose style sour beer with a salty tang, and Apex Predator, their farmhouse ale, which is brewed with only grain and sugar and no heat.  We'll receive more Off Color Brewing beers in September - keep an eye out!
Simple Roots Brewing
Staff Favorites
It's always hard to pick a favorite, but here are some of our local top picks:
  • Simple Roots Brewing is a new nano-brewery located in the New North End of Burlington, VT.  Brewers Dan and Kara debuted their beer at the Burlington and Winooski Farmers' Markets this year, and we recently started stocking their beers in our beer section.  Our Assistant Beer and Wine Buyer, Brandon, loves these unique and rotating brews.

  • Shelburne Vineyard, which recently won Best Winery in the Seven Days Daysies, released their 2012 Marquette Reserve. This is a limited supply wine (only 8 barrels were produced) and makes a great gift.  Get it while you can!

  • Boyden Valley Winery's Rhubarb Wine is semi-dry and has medium body. Give it a try with Thai food or with curry or Cajun spices and enjoy a long time Vermont wine tradition.
Cote Est
Flying Off the Shelves
We can't stop these items from growing wings and flying off our shelves, and this time around, it's all about wine:
  • Domaine Lafage Côté Est is a great value French white wine blend. This wine is medium-bodied and is fresh and crisp. It's a perfect summer wine, great with seafood or on its own.

  • Les Hauts De Lagarde is a medium body red blend Bordeaux. It has a fruity, round taste that is perfect for summer going into fall. Bonus: it's made with organically-grown grapes and is certified by the Non-GMO Project!

Iron Heart Canning
Questions Answered
You've got questions, we've got answers!
You may have recently noticed limited release cans from Fiddlehead Brewing Company and Citizen Cider on our shelves, such as Second Fiddle and Dirty Mayor.
Why does the availability of these cans vary?  Both Fiddlehead and Citizen Cider use a mobile canning unit called Iron Heart Canning, a canning company that partners with breweries in the Northeast.  Since the mobile canning unit can only can so much at a time, these specialty brews are brewed and canned in limited batches, making availability variable.
We're hoping to see more of these and other specialty cans in the future - stay tuned to see what's coming next!
*Please note: some of the beer and wine varieties we discuss above have rotating selections or limited supplies. If you can't find something you are looking for, it may be out of stock.  If you have questions, please ask for assistance.
