Welcome to UA! We are so excited to have you here on campus with us.
This is the FYE newsletter, where you will hear from us each month about programs, events, tips, and resources to support you in your first-year journey. This month, we are sharing tips on how you can start off strong in the first 12 days of your freshman year. Remember, your first year at UA is not a one-size-fits-all journey, but it is what you make it!
UA First is here to support you at every step along the way. Our office is located at 302 Russell Hall. You can call or email us, schedule a Compass Talks meeting with a staff member, schedule a meeting with one of our student First Year Navigators, or drop by our office at any time. UA First is your starting point here at UA!

| Day 1: Enjoy your First Day of Class! |
Wednesday, August 19
Spend time today getting to know campus, mapping out your routine, and getting settled. Introduce yourself to someone new and come visit us at the Student Center Plaza from 11:00-1:00 to take a picture with one of the "First Day UA" signs!

| Thursday, August 20, 7:00-10:00 PM, Peter Bryce Preserve
Attend the Bama Jam event hosted by University Programs for live music, free food, and the ultimate semester kickoff celebration.

Join UA First for free food from Mellow Mushroom while connecting with First Year Navigators to start mapping out your success at UA.

| Day 4: Serve with the Center for Service and Leadership |
Saturday, August 22, 8:00-12:30, UA Student Center Plaza
After your first week of classes, take some time to connect with your new home and serve the community with the Center for Service and Leadership's Ripple Effect Big Day of Service.

|
|
Use your Sunday to reflect on your first week as a UA student, and do the things that help you recharge! Whether you spend time with community, reset your space, journal, or call friends and family back home, set aside time to do something that will help you feel refreshed for the week ahead.

| Day 6: Attend the Freshman Forum Info Session |
Monday, August 24, 4:00-5:00 PM, 3700 UA Student Center
Freshman Forum is your opportunity to start your leadership journey at UA. Participants learn through interactive discussion, leadership training, and civic engagement, and the program meets weekly on Wednesdays. Attend the information session to learn more, and submit your application by September 1!

| Day 8: Meet the New View Mentors |
Wednesday, August 26, 3:00-5:00 PM, UA Student Center 2nd Floor
Looking for ways to get connected on campus as an out-of-state student? Sign up for New View, a community of out-of-state students that meets weekly. You can meet our mentors and learn more about the program on Wednesday, August 26 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the UA Student Center. The deadline to register is August 27.

| Day 9: Capstone Center for Student Success Open House |
Thursday, August 27, 3:00-4:30 PM, Russell Hall
The Capstone Center for Student Success Open House is your chance to learn about all the services that CCSS has to offer. Check in on the first floor of Russell Hall to pick up your event passport, and stop by all the stations to receive a treat!

| Day 10: Register for First Gen Foundations |
Meets Mondays 2:00-3:15 PM or Thursdays 3:30-4:45 PM
Looking for ways to get connected on campus as a first-generation student? Sign up for First Gen Foundations! This is the perfect 16-week experience for freshman to start their journey at UA. Participants will build meaningful relationships, gain a strong sense of belonging, and increase awareness of campus resources. The deadline to register is August 30.
