As our Friends at FCNL have said, "elections are our greatest chance to participate in democracy... Friends acknowledge the indispensable role of government in safeguarding the integrity of our society and the essential dignity of every human being... Friends encourage everyone to vote, engage candidates, mobilize people to vote, volunteer to support access to the ballot, and help ensure a fair and peaceful election."
BYM provides the following resources for Meetings. While houses of worship are prohibited from engaging in partisan electoral activities, they are allowed to engage in a wide variety of nonpartisan election-related activities. In addition, Meetings may be thinking about how to reduce polarization, prevent election-related violence in their communities, and welcome new or infrequent attenders in the weeks after the election.
