We are just a couple days away from your well-earned commencement! This email contains many important details you will need to know about this momentous weekend.

Where can you pick up your gown? How early should you arrive for each event? And what can you bring into the Chiles Center? (Hint: leave your backpacks, balloons, air horns, and signs at home!) Please read the information below carefully to find all the answers.


If you need additional assistance, there will be an information booth on Saturday at Chiles Center to address your questions. You may also visit the Commencement website for updated schedules or answers to frequently asked questions.
After UP: Cap & Gown Pick up: 
Pick up your cap and gown and learn how to stay involved as you transition from student to alumni. Pick-up is in the Beauchamp Center. Please enter from the side door on Warren Street across from Campus Safety. 

Please arrive anytime during the times listed below:
  • Thursday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Friday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Allow approximately 15-20 minutes to: 
  • Complete a brief survey on your post-graduation plans and goals.
  • Pick up your cap and gown. 
  • Grab your gift from UP Alumni.
Your cap and gown is worn during the Nursing Pinning Ceremony, Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement. 
If you cannot make it on Thursday/Friday, you may also pick it up at Chiles Center at the student entrance:
Saturday, May 4:
11:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Cap & Gown Pickup before Graduate School Ceremony

Graduate School Commencement Ceremony at 1:00 p.m.
Chiles Center

  • Doors open to the public at 12:15 p.m. No tickets are required.
  • Degree candidates must be at the Chiles Center at 12:00 p.m.
  • Students enter the building through the north doors, off Portsmouth Avenue. 
  • Cap and Gown is worn. 
Baccalaureate Mass at 4:30 p.m.
Chiles Center

  • Doors open to the public at 3:30 p.m. No tickets are required.
  • All graduating students assemble at 3:45 p.m. 
  • Students enter the building through the north doors, off Portsmouth Avenue. 
  • Cap and Gown is worn. 
  • The academic procession begins promptly at 4:20 p.m.

Know Before You Go
Please review the bag policy and security procedures for all Commencement events. We encourage guests to arrive well before the scheduled event start time to allow ample time to enter.
