Happy October! I hope you can join us at Homecoming and Family Weekend October 13–15. We will celebrate our beautiful campus and our connection to the Nest with football, food trucks, friends, and family. Later this month, we will welcome prospective students to campus for our Fall Open House on October 21.
Our students are getting ready for some classic fall traditions, Homecoming and Family Weekend, midterm exams, and picking out the perfect Halloween costume. These events are part of a packed month of programs that support students both academically and socially.
Please see below for more details and, as usual, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns as we head into fall at the Nest!

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging |
At Center for Belonging, we will be holding Dine & Dialogue on October 4. This is an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to come together, enjoy a meal, and have a dialogue about what would expand the culture of belonging at Endicott College. They can sign up for breakfast, lunch, or dinner here.
Also, in October, have your students look out for our Environmental Justice event on October 12. And, of course, if any student is struggling or needs support with regard to their social identity or feeling a sense of belonging at Endicott, please have them contact Rev. Dr. Gail Cantor at gcantor@endicott.edu.

To commemorate Banned Books Week, the Halle Library is offering a program on Thursday, October 5 from 5 to 6 p.m. to address the alarming uptick in books being challenged or banned in this country. The event will highlight the importance of intellectual freedom, First Amendment rights, and the indispensable role that libraries play in society. Pizza will be served.
-
Join Endicott professors, Drs. Mark Herlihy and Elizabeth Matelski, on October 19 at 6 p.m. in Halle Library to better understand the real Salem witch trials. Since 1692, the Salem witch trials have been repeatedly dramatized, mythologized, and re-imagined in popular memory. More has been written about these events with less agreement than perhaps any other historical subject, particularly in the history of early America. So, what really caused the trials? How did they unfold? Do they still matter, and if so, why?
- Every Thursday at 10 a.m., Reverend Gail Cantor hosts a ten-minute "Mindful Meditation" session in Halle Library. All are welcome.
- Therapy Dog Charlotte has been a big hit with our freshman class and she'll be returning to Halle Library on October 13 and October 27 at 11 a.m.

Community Service kicked off the year with our annual wECare Day which saw over 120 students volunteer with 10 different organizations on a variety of projects. Gardening, habitat building, packing 10,000 meals, most shipped to Maui, and raising money for pediatric cancer to name a few! Our athletic teams embraced a philosophy of giving back and kicked off their year with First-Year Move-In Day. Additionally, teams, in the first six weeks of the semester, have volunteered with seven different projects or events. In partnership with our dining services, Sodexo, our students and staff started a new year of Riverhouse Shelter food delivery. We have many "Hunger Heroes" who sign up to deliver leftover meals from our dining hall to a local women's shelter.
