Important SDS Testing Process Updates |
|
|
- During Spring 2024, SDS will provide proctoring support for students approved for any testing accommodations.
-
Students are encouraged to notify their instructors of their approved accommodations in the course early in the quarter by sending the Faculty Notification Letter via the AIM Student Portal. This must be completed at least 10 days prior to the first exam/quiz in a course that a student is requesting to use their approved testing accommodations on. Students who notify their instructors less than 10 days prior to the first exam/quiz in the course must contact proctor@uchicago.edu immediately to discuss SDS availability to proctor their exam due to the late notice.
-
Students will no longer submit an exam request to schedule a proctoring appointment with SDS. Students are encouraged to reach out to their instructor(s) following sending the Faculty Notification Letter to discuss testing arrangements in the course. If an instructor has requested SDS assistance with proctoring on their behalf, students will receive an e-mail notification confirming the details of their proctoring appointment with SDS at least 7 days in advance of the date of the exam. Students should note that exams may not be scheduled at the date/time of the exam for the class, and are encouraged to carefully review any testing details communicated by SDS. Students are also able to view a list of the exams scheduled with SDS and the status of each exam request in the AIM Student Portal under “Alternative Testing”. Students are also able to view the location of their exams in the AIM Student Portal 2 calendar days before the exam.
- Students who have not received confirmation of their proctoring appointment with SDS at least 7 days in advance of their exam/quiz, or who have questions about the testing arrangements for their upcoming exam/quiz should contact proctor@uchicago.edu for assistance.

Beyond the Grind: Redefining the College Student Experience |
Student Wellness will be offering a four-session program each quarter that integrates academic skills and mental health strategies. Participants will have an opportunity to work with their peers and learn skills that improve both academic performance and psychological health. Food will be provided at each session. Sessions will be held on Fridays from 10:00am-11:30am, starting on April 5th (4/5, 4/12, 4/19, 4/26).
The sessions will be led by mental health professionals and offer evidence-based and practical strategies to deal with academic issues such as procrastination and time management. Participants will also learn psychological skills known to improve emotional regulation, attention, and goal completion. Please contact Dr. Tab Shamsi (tshamsi@uchicago.edu) for more information.
