Career-Maker
As director of career services, Alana Hentges supports students throughout their career development process, from “I have no idea what I want to do with my life” to “I have two job offers—how do I know which one is best for me?” and everything in between. This spring, Alana’s team worked swiftly to reimagine its work in a remote environment, offering daily virtual career advising and dozens of ASK a Logger career Q&As with Puget Sound alumni. At home, Alana is a self-described compulsive baker and candy-maker, spreading smiles to family members, friends, and colleagues with homemade caramels.

ON THE RHOD-IE AGAIN Selected in 1892 as the Washington state flower, the rhododendron is prolific across the Pacific Northwest—and on campus. According to Phil Hancock, manager of grounds and automotive, among the varieties on campus are the Impeditum, an azalea-type “rhodie,” which has blueish-purple flowers; the Lee’s Dark Purple variety, selected for landscaping around the Welcome Center; and bright red Hon. Jean Marie de Montague rhodies, like the one pictured above. Campus rhodies typically begin blooming in March, and continue throughout the summer.
