Higher Education Enrollment Reaches Highest Level Since 2011

Tallahassee-Leon County's higher education sector continues to demonstrate its strength as a driver of economic vitality. In 2025, combined enrollment at Florida State University, Florida A&M University, and Tallahassee State College climbed to its highest level since 2011, surpassing 68,000 students for the first time in 14 years. This milestone reflects sustained growth across the community's higher education institutions and reinforces the region's position as a premier destination for education, talent development, and innovation.

A growing student population strengthens the local economy by expanding the future workforce, supporting research and innovation, and increasing demand for local businesses, housing, and services. As Tallahassee-Leon County continues to attract and retain students, the community is well positioned to provide employers with a deep and diverse pipeline of talent while supporting long-term economic growth.
