County Approves Gwinnett Place Mall Area Redevelopment Traffic Study

The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners approved $37,500 to match funds provided by the CID for the recently completed traffic and mobility study of the Gwinnett Place Mall area. This study was completed in November 2022 and was conducted by GPCID and the Gwinnett County Department of Transportation to support the mobility improvements described in the mall site’s redevelopment plan, Global Villages, along with promoting safety and traffic enhancements throughout the greater Gwinnett Place area.

Central Precinct Crime Statistics Update and Gun Crime Initiative

During the January GPCID Board of Directors meeting, Gwinnett County Central Precinct Community Relations Officer Corporal Mark Still provided a brief report with updated Flock security statistics in 2022. The CID’s 63 Flock cameras and the daily community patrols continue to support our police department’s ability to keep Gwinnett Place safe and secure.
The Gwinnett County Police Department has also begun a multi-dimensional Gun Crime Prevention initiative. While recovering and removing firearms, including stolen firearms, involved in criminal activity has always been a priority for the department, the County Police Force is incorporating a new approach to addressing gun violence in our communities. This includes investigating the firearm’s origins and any other crimes in which it may have been involved.

Community members are encouraged to support this initiative by keeping themselves safe and remaining mindful of common crime prevention skills. Practicing safety measures for yourself and your vehicle while traveling in the district or even in your own driveway can help you avoid being the victim of a car break-in and prevent your property from being used in another crime.

Leave your input on transportation for each of Gwinnett’s four districts and the entire County system on February 22, February 27, February 28 and March 4.

Gwinnett County Community Services OneStop4Help and Warming Centers

The information entered is confidential and is only shared for the purpose of connecting individuals in need with services.

This winter, Gwinnett County also launched warming centers throughout the county, including the Shorty Howell Park location on Pleasant Hill Road. These operate when the overnight temperature reaches 35 degrees and below and allow visitors to warm up, eat a meal and rest from 6 p.m. until 7 a.m.
