Message from the Associate Vice President
and Director of Extension

Parking is easy on campus, traffic is light on the I-10, and the daily average temperature in Phoenix is over 100 degrees - it must be summer. As I reminded my neighbor just this past Saturday, we all need to exercise caution and ensure we are well-hydrated during this time of the year. The dry heat often makes it seem okay because you're not sweating, when, in reality, you've been sweating profusely, just not showing or feeling it as in more humid climates. Also, as one who has now had two procedures for skin cancer, be sure to protect your skin. I have gone to just wearing long sleeves when outside for extended periods and reapplying sunscreen every two hours. Also, Otis and Garfield want me to remind you to watch your pets and ensure they have relief from the heat throughout the day. Garfield recommends a couch facing the TV, while Otis prefers the rocking/recliner.

WRRC Annual Conference Early Registration Ends June 14

We are also pleased to offer a $30 student registration rate. For those who cannot make it to Tucson, we are offering free non-interactive livestreaming of the event. This year's conference program aims to address the pressing water resources challenges currently facing Arizona and the region by bringing forward ideas that offer pathways to water security for all.

The two-day, in-person program features over 50 speakers and presenters covering a diverse range of panel discussions, keynotes, and poster presentations. Day 1 will conclude with an evening reception where attendees can continue their conversations while enjoying some refreshments and a non-hosted bar. We invite you to join us to engage in robust solutions-focused discussions.
