On February 27th, the Civil Dialogues Series was launched by Jean Becker, a member of the Bush School Advisory Board, and Linda Lorelle, a former anchor of NBC Houston. The event, entitled "Town Hall: Labor Shortages, Border Crisis and Immigration Reform," was held at Rice University's Baker Institute for Public Policy. For more information, please click here.

Professor Diego von Vacano, Department of Political Science, recently published a report titled "Miracle or Mirage? Lithium Governance and Prospects in Bolivia" through the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C. In this report, he discusses the implications of lithium and green energy policy.
- Bush School student Trinity Johnson's paper, "Do European MRLs Restrict Citrus Fruit Exports from Developing Countries?" will be published in Princeton's Journal of Public and International Affairs in May 2024. Congratulations, Trinity!

Professor Cary Nederman, Department of Political Science, published a book chapter entitled “Doctor’s Orders: The Intersection of Physiology and Economy in Nicholas of Cusa’s De concordantial catholica,” which appeared in Petra Schulte, ed., Geld und Arbeit: Nikolaus von Kues und das ökonomische Denken im 15. Jahrhundert (Bern/Leiden: Böhlau/Brill, 2024), 257-275.

Assistant Professor Fritz Bartel, Department of International Affairs, has recently published an article titled "An Authoritative Accessory: The IMF's Role in the 1993 Russian Constitutional Crisis" in the academic journal Russian History. The article delves into the IMF's controversial involvement in the fall of 1993 when Russian President Boris Yeltsin suppressed opposition forces. The author has used newly declassified documents from the IMF's archives to shed light on the institution's role in the crisis.

The Women in Intelligence Conference will focus on the historical impact that women have had on the intelligence field and the current impact women are making in the U.S. Intelligence Community. Ultimately, we hope to inspire the generation of intelligence professionals—our students, both men and women. The conference will include panels with current and former intelligence professionals and a keynote address from Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines.
