New Whisler Wellness Workshops
With a focus on building resilience,
Whisler Center for Student Wellness has rolled out two new wellness workshops: Ask, Investigate, Respond (A.I.R.), and Control Anxiety & Live Mindfully (C.A.L.M.) These are fast-paced workshops designed to meet the needs of busy college students. They meet for three consecutive weeks, for one hour each session. They will be offered throughout the semester at a convenient location on the Academic Quad. The wellness workshops are not therapy groups; they offer a safe and friendly experience for students to learn coping skills. They are facilitated by mental health professionals, Sanda Gibson, Ph.D., LPCC-S and Kadian Miracle, Ph.D., LCP. Students will receive personal workbooks and additional resources to continue their learning.
Denison embraces wellness as a core value for our students. Staff at Whisler are invested in creating opportunities to help students learn about wellness and practice new skills. The more strategies a student has to cope with stress, the more successful that student will be in academia and life.
Ask, Investigate, Respond - A.I.R. focuses on building emotional tolerance skills, creating flexibility in response to stress, and learning to focus energy in more productive ways.
Control Anxiety & Live Mindfully - C.A.L.M. focuses on helping students understand the neuroscience of anxiety and on helping them create their own personal plan to manage anxious distress.
A reminder to families of seniors graduating in May
Please note that we will live-stream the ceremony, so you can watch it online if you or other family members are not able to travel to Denison for Commencement. This way, your entire family will be able to join in on all the excitement from afar and watch your graduate cross the stage. In addition, soon after the Commencement exercises have concluded, an archived version of the ceremony will be available to watch whenever you want to relive that special moment. Please refer to the Commencement website for more details as the date draws closer.
