Call for Student Delegates: |
Sam Houston Model United Nations (SMUN) |
The SHSU Model United Nations Program was established in 2019 and has quickly developed into one of the university’s most successful experiential learning programs. Since its founding, SHSU MUN delegations have earned conference recognition every year for six consecutive years, reflecting the dedication, preparation, and professionalism of our students. Through participation in Model United Nations conferences, students strengthen their skills in research, public speaking, negotiation, diplomacy, teamwork, and global affairs while representing Sam Houston State University on a national stage.
The SMUN Program is open to all SHSU undergraduate students, with selection priority generally given to Political Science majors and minors, followed by students in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and then students from other SHSU colleges and programs.
Selected delegates will enroll in POLS 4081: Problems in Political Science – Diplomacy in Practice (Hybrid) in Spring 2027 and represent SHSU at the 2027 National Model United Nations – New York, Conference B, March 29–April 2, 2027.
Up to 12 student delegates are expected to be selected, and no previous Model UN experience is required.

“I am incredibly honored to receive this award,” Marek said. “The award is especially meaningful because it represents NIH’s investment not only in my current research, but also in my long-term development as a clinical scientist. It gives me greater freedom to continue building a program of research focused on improving outcomes for people living with obesity and type 2 diabetes, while also creating meaningful research opportunities for our students at Sam Houston State.”

Welcoming Lindsey Rowley as Managing Editor for |
The Measure: A Journal of Undergraduate Research |
|
|
|
|
"It is a privilege and honor to join The Measure as assistant editor in June of 2026, alongside the managing editor, Meghan Makthepharack. I joined the team during the home stretch of the revision and design process, and just in a few short weeks of the July deadline, it was immensely rewarding to read such growth in the author’s important and necessary ideas. It must be emphasized that the process students and faculty undergo is by no means simple. It requires time, often outside of typical class and working hours, discipline, and dedication to the important ideas the journal protects. Our standards are high because we believe that students can exceed them."
