Watch - Yamma Ensemble
The Yamma Ensemble brings the cultural mosaic that is Israel alive. To listen to the Yamma Ensemble is to stroll the markets of Old Jaffa, to sip coffee in a café above the Mediterranean. It is to experience the mystery of Israel. The music is rare, esoteric, niche and played with ancient instruments (duduk, ney, kopuz, oud, shofar) and creates the feeling of ancient times, strong sense of spiritual heritage & tradition although the materials are sometimes original and contemporary.
On September 20, the Kaufman Institute will offer an International interfaith Concert with a focus on the music of Israel and Afghanistan, and through that lens, open a conversation regarding the faith traditions inherent in each nation’s cultures. Yamma Ensemble and Heart of Afghanistan will represent their countries and musical heritage as cultural ambassadors. For more info or to register visit our event page: Interfaith Concert & Dialogue
