STUDENT & ALUMNI ACCOLADES

  • Graphic Design Alumnus Stefan Dechant has been nominated for an Oscar in Production Design for The Tragedy of Macbeth, a Shakespearean drama about a king-slayer’s insatiable greed for power – and its tragic consequences – unfolds entirely in black and white. Exciting news! Will have to watch the Oscars!

Here is a link to the trailer.
  • The Bearcats took center stage in Season 3 of The College Tour, a Prime Video series highlighting colleges and universities around the world. Industrial Design student Jasmine Shaban, and Communication Design alumna ('20) Grace Hertlein represented DAAP in the UC special.

“My home country was met with political and economic unrest that left my educational future and potential in a state of uncertainty,” says Shaban.

A graphic design major at the time, Jasmine was searching for a program abroad that would open doors for her in the future, and all signs pointed to UC DAAP:

“No matter where you’re from, we’re all united by our love for learning and curiosity. UC has truly helped me foster that and it keeps me wanting more. A college education is more than learning skills for a job, it's learning about yourself and following your intuition, all to make you the best version of yourself possible.”

  • CODE students Cindy Ha and Ali Perry were featured in the 2022 GDUSA Students to Watch. With the help of America’s leading art and design schools, GDUSA identifies top students ready to burst on the design scene. All honored students have found personal and professional growth through their programs. The GDUSA Students to Watch feature has become tradition that resonates and renews: the students get recognized and the professional creative community gets refreshed each year. We are very proud of both Cindy and Ali and thank them for representing DAAP and SoD with this high honor!

  • Sophia Mathioudakis, CODE student, was selected for a Senior 100 award. The Senior 100 Experience honors the top 100 graduating seniors of the senior class. These students, selected based on their academic achievement, campus and leadership involvement, and community engagement, are encouraged to think about the roles they can play as future alumni leaders. Sophia plans to move to NYC and work as a UX/UI designer after graduation. Congratulations Sophia!
