   EAGLE ALERT
A UNT Eagle Alert system test is scheduled for Friday, July 25. The system notifies the UNT community about ongoing emergency situations and university closures by sending text and voice messages to phones and displaying a full-screen alert on campus computers and presentation screens.
Check your contact information and update it if needed on the profile tab of my.unt.edu to ensure you receive the test messages and future alerts.

   ROUTE REDUCTIONS
From July 28 to Aug. 17, because ridership is low between semesters, DCTA will reduce the active bus lines around UNT. Below is a list of routes affected by these changes:
  • Bernard Street (BST), Colorado Express (CE), Centre Place (CP), Daugherty Street (DS) and North Texas (NT) routes will be suspended.
  • Discovery Park (DP) and Eagle Point (EP) routes will run as normal.
  • Connect Routes 3, 6 and 7 and North Texas Xpress (NTX) also will run as normal.
Full service will resume Aug.18 with nine University Routes for the upcoming fall semester. For additional information or any questions, reach out to Transportation Services at 940-565-3020 or transportation.services@unt.edu.

   SCRAPPY'S SIGHTS
Earlier this month, we asked you where a particular staircase is located on campus. The correct answer is the Hurley Administration Building!
The administrative heart of campus, Hurley is home to leadership departments including the Office of the President. The tower on top, named in honor of President Emeritus W. Joseph McConnell, is lit green after athletic victories and other important occasions.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this month’s contest. Winners will receive an email with instructions explaining how to pick up their prize. Stay tuned for the next round of Scrappy’s Sights!

   HELP CREATE SAFER ROADS
The city of Denton is developing the Vision Zero Action Plan to create safer roadways, and they need your help! Residents can visit the Discuss Denton website and use the map to mark dangerous areas within city limits. With public input, the city plans to reduce or eliminate traffic fatalities and severe injuries.
Additionally, there will be a Vision Zero community workshop hosted at the Denton Civic Center at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 24, to provide an opportunity for further community input on the project.
