Check out what's new, Coach!
As 2022 draws to a close, we want to start by thanking you, our district leaders, for the excellent work you’ve done this year. The past few years have been unlike any other, but thanks to your persistence and perseverance, our activity continues to provide a platform for students across the world.
As a reminder, the national office will be closed December 23-January 2. We look forward to assisting you again beginning Tuesday, January 3.
Competition Rules Updates
The Competition Rules Board met November 8. We invite you to read the meeting minutes. Highlights include:
Clarification regarding chair use in Storytelling that
Once the performance begins, all legs of the chair must remain stationary on the ground and do not move from their original position, and
Competitors must not kneel or stand on the chair.
Auto-qualification has been expanded to the top 16 entries in World Schools Debate and Big Questions beginning at the 2023 National Tournament.
As you're preparing for districts, don't forget to review competition rules changes from the September newsletter that impact the 2022-2023 district tournament season!
Belonging and Inclusion Advocate Training
Are you interested in providing a Belonging and Inclusion Station (BIS) at your district tournament? The BIS is easy to implement and provides a valuable resource for your attendees. The first step in creating your BIS is to identify a Belonging and Inclusion Advocate (BIA).
The Belonging and Inclusion Advocate (formerly Equity Officer) is your tournament attendees' first point of contact for equity issues including incidences of harassment or discrimination. Register today for our Advocate Training on January 12, 2023, or encourage your tab staff and tournament officers to attend and become certified Belonging and Inclusion Advocates!
