Continuing Resolution and NIAID Financial Management Plan
NIH is operating under a continuing resolution through November 17, 2023.  As a result, NIAID has made adjustments to funding levels for grants, selective pay, and bridge pools.
Competing investigator-initiated awards will be funded at 90 percent of approved funding level with start dates reset by one month. This excludes fellowship (F), training (T), career development (K), and small business (SBIR/STTR) awards, and awards funded with non-direct appropriations (e.g., emergency supplemental COVID appropriations), which will be funded with no reduction to the approved funding level.
For a competing R01 renewal grant, NIAID will fund at 90 percent of approved funding level after applying the renewal budget cap.
Noncompeting (Type 5Type 8) continuation awards will be funded at 90 percent of the FY 2024 committed level. This excludes Fs, Ts, Ks, SBIRs/STTRs, and awards funded with non-direct appropriations (e.g., emergency supplemental COVID appropriations).
Extensions (Type 4) will be funded at 90 percent of the anticipated FY 2024 level. This excludes Ks (R00) and SBIR/STTRs, which will be funded with no reduction to the anticipated FY 2024 level.

NIH's Data Management (DMS) & Sharing Plan
The NIH Data Management & Sharing DMS Policy applies to all research, funded or conducted in whole or in part by NIH, that results in the generation of scientific data.
Under the DMS policy, NIH expects that investigators and institutions:
  • Plan and budget for the managing and sharing of data
  • Submit a DMS plan for review when applying for funding
  • Comply with the approved DMS plan

Planning a proposal submission in the next 2-3 months?

In an effort to better serve you, the PMI grants team requests that PIs and Fellows notify us as far in advance as possible of submission plans.  This ensures ample time to complete departmental requirements and also route to OSP for review by their deadline.
