Clean livin’ must be paying off:

1. A potential primary opponent walked in 2 minutes late (and then didn’t even live in the district),
2. It rained on our parade – but in a good way (Old Shawnee Days),
3. And the notoriously hot and sticky Lenexa parade was a glorious 82 degrees with what must have been record crowds.

We had 20 – count ‘em – TWENTY volunteers and cut quite a swath down Pflumm and Old Town Lenexa. 

Yard Sign Time

The August 5th primary is just weeks away, and with the County Commission Chair and a number of statewide races on your ballot, please do not forget to go vote! I am already looking past August 5th to November 4th. It has been a beautiful few weeks to catch up with voters, and I will continue walking door-to-door and distributing yard signs until November – reply to this email and I’ll plop one in your yard!

Endorsements & Contributions

I’m compiling a list of endorsers for my website – can I use your name? Over the next few weeks I’ll be adding names and organizations who support our cause, and I would be grateful for your help!

The legislative affairs committees from the various Johnson County Chambers of Commerce distributed a survey to all candidates. My answers are here.

• Met with Uncork Kansas to learn more about efforts to sell full-strength beer, wine, and spirits in grocery and convenience stores
• Wind Coalition training on wind energy industry issues
• Met with the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and the Civic Council’s BizPAC team for funding and endorsement consideration
• Lenexa Chamber of Commerce luncheon meeting
• Eastern Kansas Oil & Gas Association meet-and-greet
• Lenexa Barbecue Contest
• Attended a briefing on tax policy and the fiscal year 2014 revenue report with Kansas Secretary of Revenue Nick Jordan.

Advance Voting

There’s still time to vote by mail at home. Complete this form and send to the Johnson County Election Office. Forms must be turned in by 5 pm on August 1st. The Election Office will send your ballot so you can vote at your convenience - again, I encourage you to take a look at KanVote.com/learn; it’s a 1-stop-shop to read up on the candidates. Just be sure your ballot is returned to the election office by 7 pm on August 5th.
