As we wrap up the 2024–2025 academic year, I hope you're finding time to rest, recharge and reflect on all you've accomplished.
Whether you're taking a well-earned break or continuing your studies through our Summer Sessions, I wish you a season filled with progress, purpose and personal fulfillment. If you're currently enrolled, I hope your summer courses are enriching and aligned with your goals.
Looking ahead, if you haven’t already done so, now’s the time to register for the Fall 2025 semester. Early registration ensures access to the courses you need and helps you avoid late fees and unnecessary stress. If you have questions about your course selections, need a PIN, or would like to speak with someone about your plans for the fall, your school or college is your best first point of contact.
And as always, the Office of Graduate Affairs is here to support you. If you need assistance or have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at shugrad@shu.edu.
Wishing you a productive and restful summer!
Sincerely,
Christopher Cuccia, Ed.D.
Associate Provost for Academic and Graduate Affairs

Attention International Students! Immigration Reminders for F-1 International Students regarding Fall Course Registration and Summer Travel Considerations
F-1 international students are required to enroll full time every semester:
-
If you only have one class left to graduate for Fall 2025, the last class cannot be an online class.
- If Fall 2025 is your last semester of study and you have less than a full-time course load to take, please go to the ISS Portal and submit a Reduced Course Load Form (this form is previously known as the Part-Time Enrollment Form).
-
Be sure to clear your student account balance. Outstanding student account balances of more than $1,000 will cause a financial hold on your student account. Students will not be able to register for Fall 2025 classes with a financial hold. This can lead to failure to maintain immigration status.
-
If you are only registering for a thesis/dissertation class or maintenance of matriculation, please submit a Full-Time Equivalency Form (formerly part of the Part-Time Enrollment Form) via the ISS Portal before the start of the semester.
-
Only 3 online credits or one online class can be counted towards full-time enrollment. A hybrid class which has in-person components can be considered an in-person class.
Immigration policies may change quickly. We recommend students have a discussion with OIP about their situations before making travel plans. Please be sure to read communications sent from OIP because they often contain relevant and important immigration updates. Do reach out to OIP if you have any questions regarding your immigration status or visa questions, or anything else that we can help with.

What's Happening This Month
Summertime is a Great Time!
Summer is a great time to invest in your professional growth while building your network, gaining new skills and taking intentional steps to advance your career. Before the start of the fall semester, consider the following steps:
-
Schedule informational meetings with experienced professionals in your chosen field. These conversations can provide industry insight, career pathways, and actionable steps you can take to achieve your goals. Utilize resources such as LinkedIn, SHU alumni networks, and professional associations to get started.
-
Participate in professional development opportunities such as certifications, webinars and trainings that will enhance your skillset, increase your marketability and connect with professionals. Explore national, regional and local professional associations in your field to identify relevant opportunities in your geographic location.
-
Update your resume, cover letter, LinkedIn profile and related materials. Ensure they align with your current goals and professional identity. Utilize VMock (accessed through PirateNet) to receive feedback on your resume and assess how your resume highlights your expertise for target opportunities.
To discuss your strategy or next steps in more detail, schedule an appointment with your career advisor through Compass.
| Summer Technology Training Sessions
This is an opportunity for students to get on-demand support with any of your technology needs, including Canvas, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft, and more!
Students will have the opportunity to meet with TLTC team members to discuss questions, issues, or general inquiries regarding Canvas or any Seton Hall University supported technology tools and resources.

Thesis and Dissertation Support
Graduate students working on a thesis or dissertation are encouraged to read the Libraries' Dissertation and Thesis Guidelines, even if you have not started your thesis or dissertation yet. A checklist can be found under the "Start Here" tab of the guide; please download the checklist and keep it on hand throughout your time at Seton Hall. The checklist clearly details steps students need to take to successfully submit their dissertation or thesis to the Library. Check this calendar in September for in-person and virtual workshops for graduate students. Topics include how to submit your dissertation or thesis to the Libraries, copyright and permissions, how to use APA, data use and ethics, among many more.
