Prepare for SHSU's Annual Giving Day |
New college students often face numerous uncertainties as they transition to this new academic environment. These scholarships are designed to alleviate educational costs and ease the financial burden on first-year students, allowing them to concentrate on their studies without the weight of significant financial stress.
Our students greatly benefit from opportunities that broaden their horizons, both literally and figuratively. In 2024, every student participating in study abroad programs received the CHSS Study Abroad Scholarship funding, which often plays a pivotal role in enabling them to take full advantage of international travel and study.
At Sam Houston State University, our students don’t just learn—they lead, create, and grow. From academics to campus life, see how Bearkats are building bold futures and making an impact in their communities and beyond.
Take a look at the new SHSU Anthem video, and keep an eye out for student success videos that will be published during the spring and summer semesters.

"My trip to the capitol was amazing! It was great to see so many more undergraduate students presenting research they were proud of. Being able to visit and even explore the capitol was amazing. Dr. Robert Donahoo Presents "O'Connor's Other Art" for the Flannery O'Connor Centennial and is Interviewed by The New York Times |
"I was among the first scholars outside the estate to see many of these paintings. In an essay for the catalogue for the first exhibit of these works as part of the celebration of O'Connor's centennial and in a lecture following the opening of that exhibit, I began the work of stitching together an understanding of O'Connor's visual art that I hope other scholars will continue to build on as they explore this facet of her art."
