DESIGNED FOR RTSWS STUDENTS & ALUMNAE
Sept. 9, 2021
There’s tremendous buzz around the RTSWS offices as schools begin launching into their fall sessions. We are growing! 52 high schools across 27 US and Canadian cities will see women in finance coming through their doors (or on Zoom) this year to teach financial and investment education.
Last week, we met with many of our new Student CEO’s. This is the pilot year for the leadership program, but we are both inspired and encouraged by the passion our Student CEO’s are bringing to each of their cohorts. It is safe to say that we have a great group of student leaders ready to lead their programs to success.

RTSWS Alumnae Aubrie B.
South Mecklenburg HS, 2018

CollegeSenior at UNC Chapel Hill,

Kenan-Flager Business School

Major: Business Administration

Minor: Computer Science

College & Career:

“Upon my arrival to UNC, I joined the Carolina Women In Business (CWIB) club as was recommended by my RTSWS mentor. CWIB turned out to be one of the most important components of my time here - club members and mentors were crucial in helping me while applying to Kenan-Flagler and the networking process after getting in. Post-grad I will be working for JPMorgan Chase in their Commercial Bank. My division specifically is called Corporate Client Banking and Specialized Industries (CCBSI). My team within CCBSI focuses on the technology vertical of JPMorgan's clients. I began networking with them through CWIB my sophomore year and it accelerated from there.”

Aubrie's RTSWS Experience:

"RTSWS created a space where I felt comfortable and safe to ask questions, whether those were random (bitcoin, robinhood, logic behind crypto currencies...) or more traditional (what does banking services look like, differences between debt and equity...). Having early exposure to seeing women in banking roles gave me the confidence to pursue this path in college. My mentor was a UNC alumni and provided helpful insights into what I should expect during my first year of being a pre-business student. Being part of RTSWS made the start of college seem much less daunting."
Sharing Her Expertise with Others:
“I am thankful to RTSWS for demonstrating early on that women have a place in financial services. I believe that this mindset set me up for success. I have been an active member in CWIB - Carolina Women in Business - for the last 3 years, including serving as a mentor to freshmen applying to Kenan-Flagler. I love the opportunity to encourage them, as I was once encouraged by so many other successful women..”
What's Next?!
"Overall, I am very excited for the future! My belief is that role-models and mentors can play the biggest role in career-related decisions - they have the ability to shape perceptions early on and guide their mentees as needed. Connections have been crucial along my path to graduation. By having a strong network of people (RTSWS, UNC, CWIB, Busi Tech Club...), I had help navigating the many stages of college. RTSWS started my journey in the right direction and I am grateful to have that community moving forward!"
