A message from our CEO

This year's harvest had its challenges like every other year, but overall we are very satisfied with the results and we were truly blessed with yet another excellent season here in Wellington.
We usually start taking in grapes from late January until the middle of March, a period of about 8 weeks. This year, however, our first grapes only arrived at the beginning of February and the harvest finished 11 weeks later in the middle of April. Our first white wines of the 2022 vintage were released shortly after harvest, and the fruity DUKE Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and White Pinotage have already entered the market.
While the world is busy recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, and wine consumers are once again enjoying their favourite wines with family and friends, our winemaking staff here at Wellington Wines are hard at work behind the scenes to make sure the best wines are tasted and identified for our bottled brands. The ultimate aim is always to fulfil and even exceed our clients' expectations.
We are extremely excited about the addition of the "DUKE'S KITCHEN" to our stable - each wine in this range is now being made to pair with specific food types in mind. We have incorporated the services of a chef, a Cape Wine Master and our own winemakers to be actively involved during the final blending and selection process, to ensure that each wine is a perfect pairing with its food grouping. On our new DUKE Wines' website, you will be able to find recipes to accompany each wine, tailored for easy preparation at home with your loved ones. Each bottle will soon be sporting a new neck tag, with information to help you to do wine-and-food pairings, just like a professional sommelier.
My wish is that you take some time at the end of each day to relax, and to enjoy the simple pleasures of life - nothing like a good bottle of DUKE or LA CAVE with good food and great company to end your day.
Greetings,
Francois van Niekerk

New digital homes for our bottled brands

We are excited to announce that each of our wine brands now has its own, unique digital home. After much deliberation, we took the step to move away from a "branded house" approach, and rather focus on a "house of brands", i.e. a home to numerous brands, each independent of the other, and each with its own audience, marketing, look and feel.
A four-month project has finally become a reality, and if you click on the four brand icons at the top, you will be directed to each individual website. They are fresh, modern and packed with information.
Each brand now also boasts its own individual social media channels - be sure to follow us there to stay updated with the latest happenings. You can also purchase all these wines online - when clicking on the "BUY" button, you will be re-directed to our main website, which hosts the user-friendly e-commerce facility.

Brand new online store

It would not be fitting to give our bottled brands new homes, but in the process neglect our very own Wellington Wines website.
Not only has our main website been revamped too with a fresh look-and-feel and revised content, but we have also upgraded our online shopping experience. You can now buy all our products from the comfort of your own home, in a brand new e-store with an improved user experience.
Added benefits:
  • you can now make up your own mixed cases, i.e. you are no longer obliged to buy 6 bottles of a kind.
  • the minimum purchase volume has been decreased from 12 bottles to 6 bottles.
  • we have included a very limited quantity of older vintage Vinotheque wines, which have been perfectly matured at the right temperatures in our maturation cellar.
Customers who reside in the Wellington area, still have the option to collect their orders from our tasting room in Bainskloof Road (please note NO collections from our Stokery Road facility).
We will soon be adding more exciting products in the DUKE'S KITCHEN range - keep an eye out for wine-infused cooking salts, grape-seed oils, olive oil and more.

Changes to our Wine Club structure

With the launch of our new website and e-commerce store, we had to re-look our Wine Club's structure and its benefits.
We have decided to move away from the old two-tier system, whereby members of the Wellington Wine Lover's Club received a 10% discount, and members of the La Cave Heritage Club received a 15% discount.
All current and future Wine Club members are now part of one structure, simply called the Wellington Wines Wine Club, with a 10% discount across the board.
To compensate for the fact that the La Cave Heritage Club is now a thing of the past, we have implemented the following measures:
  • zero price increases for 2022.
  • zero commitment to buying a certain volume of wine per year to stay a member - once a member, always a member.
  • minimum purchase volume per transaction has been decreased from 12 bottles to 6 bottles, and you are now allowed to mix and match wines, i.e. you are no longer obliged to purchase 6 bottles of a kind.
To become a member, simply purchase one of our 3 pre-selected Wine Club options, and you will qualify for your 10% discount from your very 1st purchase.
Existing Wine Club members will need to log in with their account details to qualify for their 10% discount, and can also click on the link below to reset their passwords.
